Very well done. W-600 is one of those unique series where a comprehensive 'photo checklist' would be a wonderful project , similar to the Goodwin and Company book. And much like Old Judge, a complete, master set, of W-600 could probably never be assembled, not even with Warren Buffett's checkbook.

Absolutely wonderful work! Quick question -- I know John McGraw's first pose was issued listing him as an infielder and also issued listing him as a manager. Were both issued in 1902, or is it impossible to tell?

Phenomenal work. I did see that Eddie Cicotte is listed as being distributed, but is it confirmed that he has a W600. I've never even heard of one.

No one will ever complete a "set." Just as with Old Judge Cabinets, there are many, many players listed in their listings who were made available to the public, but no examples have ever been seen.

On his list, Jerry has Cicotte designated as "NC" which means that no cabinet is known to exist at this time.

There are a few confirmed which are marked as NC and probably even more that are still waiting to be uncovered, that is probably the only part that should have been omitted as it will constantly change. As they become discovered they will be touted as being unconfirmed and are no rarer than the ones that are one of one, or already known.

Old Cardboard has quite a few photos of W600s. http://www.oldcardboard.com/w/w600/w600gal1.asp Vintageclout Yes, the two 1902 NY NL players were McGraw and Van Haltren. McGinnity and Mathewson not until January, 1903 - both players cabinets are listed as type 2. Paul I'm quite sure that this McGraw cabinet is the only 1902 cabinet there is: Epps Eddie Cicotte, like so many of the player cabinets that were not available until late in the SLC production (1910), is hard to find - if not impossible. As stated in the text - there are 136 player cabinets not known to exist. |

Thanks Jerry. Here is my W600 McGraw. It is the same pose as the one you posted, but lists McGraw as manager. I can see that the mount is different, so I assume it is not a 1902.

Hi Jerry......really great stuff.
I noticed this in the write up...... " Christopher Mathewson New York NL has both a suit and uniform cabinets with his last name misspelled: Matthewson. " Here's my Matty....is this correct spelling the more often seen card, or is the "double -T" version more often seen ? ![]() TED Z . |

The correct spelling is easier to find. The incorrect spelling Matthewson is on an earlier mount

Nice Gibson Cabinet.
Craig - are you putting for sale sign on your cabinet? Then came John in a new suit: The first SLC design format type of 1902 was superseded after only a couple of months of production. Why? The font was changed on the second format but the 1902 "Compliments of" remained. This new format survived for a few months then the "Compliments of" was weeded. This lasted for - right - a few more months. Then she was fired. The next format was introduced in late 1903 - early 1904. This new embossed format was used for the remainder of the run.

I didn't get a chance to see the preview. Would you mind telling me if it lists a Billy Sullivan Sporting Life cabinet as verified? I have never seen one

Clicked the link from a quoted post and all I got was a mostly blank page saying "review over"
So I'd have to track down a copy of a magazine I didn't know existed and that I'm pretty sure the only card shop that's around my area doesn't carry. Splendid. Steve B |
