Default 1961 Fleer and Scoops

I am trying to find out what month the 1961 Nu card Scoops and the 1961 Fleer baseball greats sets were issued. Does anyone know?
My main purpose is to find out if it was possible for Ty Cobb to sign a card in either set OR for Eddie Gaedel to sign in the scoops set. Your help is greatly appreciated

I believe the 1st series Fleers were distributed starting in March so, although he was very sick, it's possible Cobb could have signed one before his death in July. He has one authenticated 1960 Fleer. I don't know anything about the Scoops...Good luck...

I did not check every Scoops card but the latest dateline on the card back seems to be about the Mazeroski 1960 homer. if that is correct, then the set was probably issued sometime before opening day and yes, there is a possibility there is a legit Ty Cobb signed card from that set floating around.

Default 1961 Fleer

Here is a recent article from Sports Collector's Digest that will answer some questions for you., For example, "The first ’61-’62 Fleer Greats series (#1-88) came out in 1961, while the second series (#89-154) hit store shelves in 1962. Both series start with a checklist card and the players, in each case, then appear alphabetically."

If SCD had articles like this years go, I would still be a subscriber. I do subscribe to the free online newsletter and every once in a while they connect like this.

2nd Series Fleer 1961 Greats were issued in 1961, not 1962. I wrote an article for SCD proving that a long time ago, I guess they've forgotten.

These are the only sets I collect except for the 1964 topps Giants and the 2003 JML set. My needs are as follows (I do have a 1960 Fleer Cobb signed). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have seen most of the Fleer I need except Cobb but just too expensive. Thanks
