Incredible sign! Thank you for posting it Rich.
I'm not sure about Honus in the crowd. I thought that was him at the corner of the dugout holding two bats getting ready to hit cleanup. ![]() Speaking of the crowd, one aspect that may help put a date/time frame on this piece is the two sailors in the crowd on the right. Their uniforms are very similar to uniforms worn by sailors in the early 1900s. Does the stadium resemble any known ballparks from that period? Ballparks aren't my niche. Jantz |

Terrific piece. Needs a little TLC but the potential for maximum awesomeness is there. Love all the smokers. The aroma of tobacco is an abiding memory inseparable from remembrances of a day at the ballpark once upon a time. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball but you can't light up at a game anymore. There oughta be a law.

He's the one wearing the white and red-striped ski cap. Or maybe looking at you from the second row.

He's the only one not facing the field (save for the vendor), lower right of piece.
I think the other example was either owned by Halper, or was in a Mastro's auction about 10 years ago...maybe someone could dig it up...it was in much better condition, if memory serves me right. Stunning piece, even in this condition. (Hi David! Send me an email, hope you're well). Last edited by MVSNYC; 01-28-2017 at 07:06 AM. |

and weakest example I've seen. It's quite special but over 20,000. would seem to be too much. One never knows with these esoteric pieces. 16,000. already a strong bit of change.
