Thought I would try something fun...a reverse auction for an authentic Ruth card issued during his playing career!
I have a 1933 Sport Kings Babe Ruth card #2 graded GAI authentic. Overall it has the appearance of about a G-Vg card, with about 2 light and 1 medium crease on left side and corner rounding. I believe it was graded Authentic because upon close inspection it appears it has had some color added to each side of the black bar on the front of the card that contains Babe's name. This is a reverse auction. The starting amount is $990. A commitment to buy at the current price of the card ends the auction. Every 2 to 3 days if the card is not claimed I will reduce the price up to $50. I do reserve the right to pull the auction if after multiple reductions (I have a particular bare minimum price in mind) the card does not sell. Shipping will be included. Good Luck! 8/11 - $990 8/13 - $940 8/15 - $895 8/17 - $850 8/19 - $810 8/21 - $775 8/23 - $745 8/25 - $715 8/27 - $680 8/29 - $650 Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 08-29-2016 at 11:18 AM. Don't suppose you have a Thorpe you'd like to try this with?

Have to mostly agree with Tyler on this one...but it will still be available here for another couple of days before I move it to ebay.
I think part of the issue is that I decided to be upfront with what I believed the reason an authentic grade was given (added ink in the bottom black bar on the front...just my opinion, as I do not own a blacklight), instead of leaving it up to people to decide what is wrong with the card, or perhaps believe that the graders somehow got it incorrect, or the optimistic gambler believing it possibly could be broken out and regraded at a higher level. In my opinion, a great looking card of the big man at a reasonable price...but as always, the market will dictate what it will sell at. Brian |
