My oldest piece of baseball History I post it for the last time as I have a pending sale to a board Member. I am sure the crowd that day was entertained by the Red Sox and Olympics as part Decoration day weekend as it was called back then, In fact it was only the third time Decoration day was celebrated as it originated in 1868. Greatest game ever invented.

That is quite the early scorecard. Harry Wright and Spaulding? being on it is neat to see. (not sure if that would be Al Spalding, maybe not)

It's definitely Al Spalding. He pitched for Boston in 1871.
Second baseman Ross Barnes, who is also on this scorecard, joined Boston with Spalding from the Rockford Forest Citys that same year. Last edited by VintageJay; 05-25-2016 at 07:07 AM. Reason: Additional info |

The entire stating nine from the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings is represented on this scorecard. Boston has the two Wrights, McVey, and Gould. Washington has Leonard, Waterman, Allison, Sweasy, and Brainard.
Rockford also supplied Fred Cone to Boston. |

Amazing piece! Has to be the earliest Washington scorecard known, maybe Boston, too. The earliest scorecard, period?
