I added a couple of items to my Breaking the Color Barrier collection. My goal was to build a collection consisting of a Rookie card for each player who broke the barrier of each Major League team.
The Philadelphia Phillies was the last
National League team to integrate. John Kennedy made his debut on April 22, 1957. He only appeared in five games. Kennedy did not have a rookie card. A few years ago I filled the gap with a beautiful Bob Lemke custom card.

Recently I found out that John Kennedy did appear on a card. The 1958 Topps, Phillies Team/checklist card #158. The 1958 card has the prior year photo. I got a hold of one. He is in the first row middle, third from the right.
I also found an old 1957 B&W Team photo that was used for the card's image. As you can see, the color processing techniques used on the cards were lacking back then. Kennedy looks quite different.
Both items are welcomed additions to my collection.
