Hall of Fame Cardboard Careers...
Who do you nominate for having a great, Hall of Fame worthy 'career in cardboard'? Meaning, what player stands out to you for having had a good run of aesthetically pleasing, cool looking, not-your-typical-pose cards in, say, a 10 year period?
For this exercise, Mickey Mantle is excluded. Post pictures of at least 3 or 4 cards from different years in the player's career. Although he usually looked like a pudgy old man on most of his cards, I nominate Johnny Bench for this awesome grouping… bench.jpg

Ryan comes to mind for me, as do several players with cards in the 70s and early 80s. Oops, didn't mean to use the reprint scan.

Knowing he was a collector, I bet Carter was pleased with his 1980T. I like the 1981 and 1983 also...even the 1978.
And one thing I only now learned...the 1977T and 1977OPC use different pics. Was this true for other players as well, maybe the Canadian teams?

Darren what a great thread to start. Being that JB is my favorite player to collect I have to agree with you. Agree with Peter regarding is 71 card as well. A couple other cards I think that would fit his 10 year run would be his 71 TGM card and the 74 Deckle. Having him in action swinging in the TGM qualifies in my book as well as having a standard batting pose.

Hall of Fame Cardboard Careers...
Reggie has to be included. His 1969, 1970, 1974, and 1978 Topps cards are definitely Cardboard HOF worthy.

The 'Hall of Fame' reference in the title of this thread referred to having a great run of cards only. It was in no way meant to limit posts to only HOF players. In fact, I would prefer it if some lesser known guys were nominated.
