Hey Folks
I am trying to find a Keating Candy Co stamped back W575-1 card for a lady who wrote me the following email yesterday. I prefer to hang onto mine as it's the only one I have. I am trying to find out more about the candy company too. There is an example at the bottom of this scan below..... Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!! "Hello Leon, I would like to know if you have any of the cards stamped with the James P. Keating Candy Co. cards for sale? The candy store was owned by my father's grandfather in Sacramento. My dad is pretty sentimental and values highly memories and reminders of his history in Sacramento and of the Keating family. He mentioned these cards to me a few years ago, and I am now trying to locate one that a collector might be willing to sell. He's getting older and in declining health; I am ideally trying to find one soon to surprise him with something meaningful and unique for this Christmas. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Sincerely, Kathleen Keating" ![]()

Leon, I got the same email as well. I will look to see if I have an extra or two in my W575-1 collection tonight when I get back home from work.

Here is a letter she sent yesterday with a bit more info- Hi again, Leon. No luck, I guess, with the card, but I wanted to get back to you about the Candy Co. It was before my dad's time, so he didn't really have too much to share. He said his grandfather and grandmother started out making chocolates in their kitchen for some time before turning it into a full-blown business in downtown Sacramento. The candies evidently had a good reputation. They ran the distributorship for several years, until after the end of Prohibition. At that time, the Keating Candy Co. became a liquor distributorship. Go figure...probably more money in booze than in chocolates right around then. Unfortunately, that's about all I have for you. Take care! Kathleen .

If any members are wondering about this, as I would have been had I not gotten the scans of the reprints you sent me, you did this as a favor for Kathleen. Kudo's for that but I am not sure she reads the board and that email is long gone unfortunately.
