Another dismal year for my beloved Sox. Another year that showed a lot of promise and a lot of hope with "some" key off-season acquisitions. LaRoche a poor man's Adam Dunn (ouch that hurts). Jennings after a good start fell flat on his face. Samardzija ........... don't even get me started. Robertson well maybe it's the fact that they haven't had much games to close or maybe he had an off year.
Yeah you know the typical put on a Sox jersey and suck. The Swoon happened early and consistently this year. And as long as Jerry, Kenny, and Ventura are in the picture Sox fans won't have much to hope for. Other than Sale's club record chase which he should be able to break next start (though having a down year) and Quintana's comedic No Decisions when pitching well continues. There's been only one bright spot. And that is Jose Abreu. He has become only the SECOND player in Major League history to wallop 30 Home Runs and rake in 100 Runs Batted In, in his first two Major League seasons. He joins his mentor Albert "Winnie" The Pujols. Abreu came up last year and Pujols became his mentor giving him many tips and sound advice on being a foreign player in the Bigs. Abreu was nervous and confused often thinking that teammates were making fun of him because he couldn't speak or understand English. Pujols told him not to worry about it and that they were not making fun of him. He told him various other tips on how to be successful in the Majors. Unlike most foreign players Abreu has sought out to make it his mission to learn English. His goal is to sing the National Anthem some day. As usual not much to celebrate in the world of the White Sox but at least we usually have something in the season to make it not so dismal. And this something is pretty big and shouldn't be ignored. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/152756...omers-100-rbis
