Just wondering if anyone on here is related to any pre war player minor leaguers, major leaguers and other leagues. And any related items that you may have stumbled accross in your life?

I know Walter Reuther's son used to collect his cards and I believe was part of the board at one time.

My wife is a distant relative of former catcher, Harry Smith. I got a couple of his items but can't afford his E107 or W600.

My friends Great (not sure how many greats) grand uncle of some sort is Cy Young.
I've spoke through email with a couple relatives of D381 Fleischmann players as well. Walter Traggesser's relative was one of them. However, unfortunately, I couldn't find that card for them, or myself for that matter...

Nice thread Matthew! I have no one but it's fun to read others stories. I've looked and looked over the years for a Barnett , any Barnett. There are none that I can fine but there may be an obscure minor leaguer out there somewhere with my bloodline.

I have sold autographs to more family members of players who played from the 20's to the 50's than I can ever possibly count. Sold an n172 and OJ cabinet to a family member of Phenomenal Smith.

When I first started collected T206 cards I posted a WTB ad on net54 and a board member sold me a Doc Adkins card stating that they were a distant relative of Adkins. As he didnt have a picture of the card, he sent it out for inspection prior to any exchange of money which was a first for me.

Not related to me, but a childhood friend of mine is the grandson of Weldon Wyckoff, a pitcher on a few of Connie Mack's Philadelphia A's teams in the mid 1910's. To my knowledge, the only card he appeared on was the 1913 T200 Fatima Team Card (sitting to Chief Bender's left). If anyone knows of any others, please let me know. I have picked up a few Fatimas for him and his dad (Weldon's son) in the past, which blew their collective minds.

Not related, but Napolean Lajoie was a frequent customer at my great grandfather's pharmacy; he lived right down the block.

I don't have any Baseball connections that I know of, however my mother remarried when I was young and my Step-Grandfather was John Norlander.
He was a pioneer of the NBA. John won the National Championship in 1942 with his Hamline College team. He then left to join the Navy and played there with a service team that included Red Auerbach, that was a friendship that lasted till death. After the Navy, he joined the BAA and renewed his partership with Auerback as he played for the Washington Capitols from 46 to 51, including the two seasons after 49-50 when they joined the NBA. The man had some amazing stories to tell.

Well, I think there was my great great Uncle, Tubby Spencer. The resemblance on his E95 card is unmistakable, maybe.

My wife is from Naples TX.....population about 990. Randy Moore, on this '33 Goudey, was born there and owned a large farm. It was handed down twice until his grandsons squandered it away. Randy Sr. married a socialite who was rich and then his son did the same thing, is my understanding. My wife says Randy Jr. was just a drunk.
![]() Todd (who my wife knows),Tres and Clint were his sons and weren't much better, from what I understand. Such is life in Naples..we go back there fairly often. It's a nice place with lots of piney woods. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1933-Big-Lea...8AAOSw0vBUhQsf .
