I am thinking of doing the basic ebay store. It looks like it is worth the money, but I want to check in with people and see what you think
Does anyone have an ebay store, and do you feel it is worth the money? Thanks Ed |

I had an Ebay store. No, I don't feel it is worth the money. You can try it yourself for one month for $20. DO NOT lock into the year!

Yes, I have found it is easily worth the money. It starts out with a 1% break in fees, and a lower maximum fee limit for any one transaction. If you can generate enough sales to reach the PowerSeller status (12 month rolling: $3000 and 100 transactions), you get 20% off your final fees and better search exposure. There are also occasional limited time seller specials eBay runs, such as further reduction in the maximum fee, and reducing final fees if you run a certain type of discount program.

Some math can solve your question.
If you stay under your 40 free listings per month, the math is really simple. It costs $20 for a store. You save 10% on final value fees (of the 10% final value fee... or 1% of final hammer price) So to make up the cost of the store you'd need to sell $2000 in merchandise. If you do indeed list more than the 40 free listing, then your total sales to break even would drastically reduce from $2000. If you list 60 listings a month, you'd have to pay for 20 at $0.30 each and that's $6. Now you only have to "make up" another $14 to break even, which is just $1400 is merchandise sales. For me, it's worth it. I sell more than $2000 a month on eBay and I list around 60-100 items each month. Like you, I was hesitant as well. I still pay month to month, just so I dont have to be locked in for a full year. The extra $4 for the "per month" is worth it to me in case I ever want to abandon ship. Hope this helps. |

Ditto 100% what Steve said above........
I've been trying to keep 100-150 items on a month, so at least I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. Also makes it zero fees to relist whatever subset of them doesn't sell month to month. It's definitely paid off for me in the couple months. I'm doing the full year store paying month-to-month but am locked in. I will re-evaluate as I get close to that year. |

I was kinda thinking that as long as I hit the 100 listings a month (at .30, that makes 30 bucks, which is less than the store cost) Im doing alright- and the extra bonus 150 in collectibles sure helps with the cards...I think I may take the plunge!
Does anyone know this answer... When ebay offers its bonus free listings (which they used to do a lot, not so much recently) do those get added in for store owners also? In other words, if I get a store, do I get those free listings in addition to the ones in the store? Thanks! |
