Has anyone ever been to the Joe Jackson House/Museum? At the end of March, I'm going through South Carolina and was wondering if it's worth the extra time. According to Mapquest, it would add 1:48 to a 15 hr 30 min trip. I went to the Ty Cobb Museum on my way down here. Cool place, but I'd only recommend it if you're going to be nearby because it isn't that big. Took longer to get there than time I spent there. Thanks in advance.

A stopover at Greenville, SC is well worth the time and effort. Main Street is absolutely an incredible atmosphere of entertainment, fun and discovery. Flour Field (the minor league ballpark is beautiful - built to reflect baseball past. Main Street is loaded with quaint shops and fabulous restaurants. The park along the water and ballpark is a must see.
Spouses (or girlfriends) love the area.... Good luck.

Sounds like it's worth the trip even if the museum doesn't take up much time to see. I would like to see inside the Drive ballpark, but not sure if that's a possibility during the off-season.

Downtown Greenville is very nice. The ballpark is a great place to see a game. The museum, which is right across the street from the ballpark is in the house that Joe Jackson used to live in, although I seem to recall that it was relocated to where it presently is about the same time they opened the ballpark. It will take you about an hour or hour and a half to get through.

The site says they moved the house about three miles. I asked about seeing the stadium, but they are closed on the weekends(is what I was told). I love the Fenway Park look to the park.

Here are a few photos from a visit. The museum was closed that day, so I didn't get inside. I've also been through the Brandon Mills neighborhood, seeing the old ball field.

Thanks everyone. I'll be making the trip and I'm looking forward to it. Going to make a day of it in town.

If you are interested in visiting Joe's grave, it is on the other side of town, but easy to find off one of the main drags.

I am interested in going to the gravesite, not sure the people I'll be with will go.
