We don't really talk about too many Canadian pre-war baseball cards so I figure a thread to at least show a few would be nice.....And a shout out to our northern brethren, we love ya'll. (we just don't care for the shipping to your country)
Here is an FC59 Honey Boy to get started... ![]()

Blair,
Your C46 Phelps is the nicest C46 I have ever seen. Tough to find a nicer one I'm sure! Patrick Last edited by Vintagecatcher; 12-31-2014 at 03:35 AM. |

Mr. Burns once gave Homer this Joe DiMaggio RC (1936 World Wide Gum #51) instead of $5 for Christmas. It's a kick to see The Simpsons get a detail like this correct, even if they changed the number slightly.

Thanks! Ahhh...only now just clued in that he was a catcher - your area of great expertise! With C46 cards, I tend to go for them if they are in real nice grades. If I can grab 7s, 7.5s or 8s for a fair price I usually jump. Don't see many 8s though! ![]() Cheers, Blair

Not mine (although the card at the very top of my want list).
1939 v351 Canadian Ted Williams, the TOUGHEST of all the Ted rookie cards. Card is very similar to the 1939 Goudey R303-A except smaller. Editted: Just looked at my Ted want list and the second card is also Canadian (although not pre-war), the 1954 Topps Canadian Ted Williams #1, gray back. DARN YOU CANADA! Brent,
Send me your address. I will come for a visit during harvest season. You can even have any purchases shipped to my house and I will bring them over the border, saving $$$$$$ on Canadian shipping costs. Least I could do. Dave |

Very nice! I haven't seen an OPC Feller offered for sale in quite some time! In fact, I haven't seen one in a Net54 thread in quite some time either! Fantastic example!

Hey Leon, great cards! Especially the Peggy Popcorn. That's a great find story, (if you'd like to elaborate I'd love to hear it) Winnipeg being my hometown. A number of regionals (mostly hockey) came out of the city in the 20's, including the Holland Creameries Senators. Thanks for sharing those.

Wow Val, great cards! 👏👏👏 I'm speechless! I'd love to know where and how those were acquired. I find it very interesting that a regional like this was only available in Winnipeg when issued, yet literally none - as far as I know, are found in the city anymore.

Brent, thanks for the kind words. Actually I have had all of the Holland Creameries, except for the SP Peckinpaugh card, for many years One of my biggest hobby regrets was not buying what I think is the only known Peckinpaugh many years ago, because I thought the price was too high! Although most of my Hollands are in P-F condition, I was so glad I already had them when I fairly recently began a new collecting focus - cards of all the Wash. Senators who were on their 1924 championship team - as far as I know, the Holland cards are the only known cards of two players, Ralph Miller & Ernest (Mule) Shirley, and among the few known cards of a few other players.
I can readily tell you where and how I acquired everything in my collection that I acquired since the beginning of 2007. For everything prior to this (including my Hollands), I have a big box full of receipts, cancelled checks, notes, etc. that I have been intending for years to sort and organize. And, I have an Alzheimer's-like memory. Hence, I can't tell you where and how I got my Hollands, except to say I didn't acquire them all one at a time - I acquired at least one sizable group somewhere, probably in an auction. Val |
