![]() ..postcard will give you an idea of their size.. ...a very young George Kell " SH130 " and an aging Pepper Martin " SH143 "-- no gloss on front..backs are sepia too , and blank..the font used for the names is familiar...I don't think that they're a subset of the 1946-49 Sports Exchange because of their size ?? ..thanks for your help..MikeGarcia |

The font reminds me of the 1947 Bond Bread cards, exhibits, and premiums. Could they be related?

I think it is similar to the one used on the large " All Star Game '' photos from the late forties , but the number SH130 for Kell , ( letter " K " ) and then SH143 for Martin , ( letter " M " ) makes me think that there's a lot of these issued in this set...assuming they're in alphabetical order ....???

I see the connection now with the SH prefix # on the cards. These are cataloged in the newest Standard Catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards, pg 384-385. The description says cards numbered to 115 have portraits in an oval frame. Your George Kell and Pepper Martin look nothing like this Bob Feller, but they are apparently from the same set. There was also a Sport Hobbyist set of Team Composites from the same year, also with SH prefix #'s.
