We're having dual pane windows installed next month. This presents both a dilemma and an opportunity.
My room has been in the same formation for about 3 years now...and I've acquired a lot of junk along the way. Lots of tacked-up, unframed items, etc. I'm looking for some good ideas on a number of fronts. Funds are limited to do much in the way of a remodel outside of taking everything down to paint - since most of it has to come down for the window work anyway. I'm looking for affordable framing options and really some basic advice from anyone who's had to do something like this in the past. How did you "start over?" Any tips or advice would be a huge help. |

Hi John,
This is a great opportunity for you. Here is a link to me starting from scratch and the steps I took. Have fun ![]() http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=116487 I suggest you start with: -color choice -What are the key pieces from your collection that must be featured? Then fill in around them -what doesn't make the cut for inclusion? -shelving/cases/where can I make the best use of space

If you can buy some frames for half price from Hobby Lobby one week, then take them back the next week when they do custom framing for half off, you can get some great frame jobs done at a very affordable price. They usually go back and forth on those 2 every other week. You play your cards right you'll do just fine.

I started over in 2010 (we moved). The best thing I did was put plywood (OSB actually) on all the walls before sheetrock. 3/8" OSB is dirt cheap $6-8 per sheet. With OSB on the walls, I can run a screw anywhere and hit solid wood

One thing I forgot about frames.....I often to used to buy complete "art" at a place like Target and throw away the "art," leaving me with a frame, mat and glass at a fraction of what you would pay elsewhere.

That's a brilliant idea putting plywood behind the Sheetrock. Makes trying to locate studs to hang things on no longer a worry. Great idea and great room. Would look amazing with some Dodger blue paint

Rob that's an awesome room. You must have quite a wife. I have approached my own regarding the creation of Pirates temple for our home. She has made it painfully clear that I am to keep my "Pirate porn" in the walk in closet that has been relegated for it
