I have been a member here for just a little bit, but the knowledge that I have already gleaned is immeasurable. That being said, I am really interested in baseball postcards. I want to do more research of my own on them, but I was wondering how collectible they are?

I guess along the lines of "will I be able to afford any"! Seriously, would I be luckier to stumble upon some baseball (or even other sports-related) pc's at local flea markets as opposed to finding tobacco baseball cards?

There are cheap baseball postcards out there. Local town teams with great images can be had for like 20 bucks, some fairly common major league issues like Dietsche are pretty cheap too aside from Cobb. Orcajo is a great looking set that won't break the bank as well.

Stadium postcards range from $1 to $1000. If you're short on funds, maybe focus on 1950s chrome postcards of stadiums. Then work your way back into the Victorian ones.

Look for local postcard and paper shows in your area...they can be a treasure trove. I have found some of my best postcards at these types of shows...most postcard dealers are aware that baseball postcards are sought after, but you can find absolutely incredible deals if you know what you're looking for. I found a real photo postcard of a team with Dazzy Vance on it at a postcard show for the price of what a regular small town team postcard would cost you on ebay. I also found a dealer with a 50 cent postcard box that had 4 Mickey Mantle Holiday Inn postcards in it.

Actually the Babe Ruth Shonen Club postcard was issued in August 1929

Really? I have an sgc flip says 1928 also a psa on ebay now flip says 1928 also. Maybe it was 28 & 29??

They had it listed incorrectly as a 1928 Shonen Kulubu for a long time. This is an image of the original package that housed the 40 cards including the Ruth.

You have a wonderful collection of postcards. I live 20 minutes from Reading, Pa., so the 1908 Reading Pretzels postcard and cabinet cards has always been among my favorites. I have always liked the Carnegie, PA/Honus Wagner postcard as well.
