Sorry if this has been posted before, but I don’t recall seeing it. Also sorry if you're tired of m101 stuff, but I have found ads showing that the 1916 Globe cards, kin to m101-4, were distributed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, not St. Louis or Missouri generally as was reported previously elsewhere. The earliest such ad I’ve seen so far is from the April 28, 1916 Harrisburg Telegraph, and advertises the first series (not by name but twenty cards including Alexander) being available the following day. Note the reference to Dubbel-Hedder suits, same as on the card reverse:
![]() There are a few other ads in the following weeks as well, including one that shows Walter Johnson and another with Eddie Collins. Would welcome help on Gimbels, to see which stores had the cards-- Milwaukee, Philadelphia or New York (or some combination).

great work! I never grow tired of your M work. It has helped me greatly in
learning more about the larger context of key cards in my type collection---in this case, my Joe Benz Globe. Many thanks, all the best to you, Barry |

Here is another Globe Clothing ad, which is very similar to the Everybody's ad shown in another post.
Globe Clothing ![]() Everybody's Both companies have basically the same promotion ad, except Everybody's uses a different card image (not Eddie Collins) than Globe Clothing. Thanks, ChiSoxFan |

Thanks again Barry. I am starting to get my fill of Pancho Villa and Germany stories in reading all of this 1916 material, but find it interesting to see what was important back in that time. Oh, and it was an election year for you fans of the pols.
![]() James, nice scan and you're right--the ads are very similar. Since just over half of the m101 advertising backs represent sellers of merchandise, I would think there would be similar layouts, but still hope to see some different approaches emerge when we locate ads for the remainder. As for Globe, I especially like where the ad states "and each photograph personally authorized by the player as his favorite picture". Doubtful but interesting anyway.

That is really, really good stuff. Thanks for sharing the ads guys. I love seeing how our gems were marketed, sold and distributed. Much appreciated.
