In speaking with some collectors at the National I came to realize these "208 in Present Series" Colgan Chip cards are quite scarce. I am curious how many members own one or more? I picked up this Reulbach several years ago. I have been looking for an upgrade but to no avail so far...(please excuse the other cards)

There are none listed that specifically call out the "208 in Present Series". 1,302 have been graded from the series.

My near master set of 280 or so cards had 4 of these cards in it and they are VERY difficult.

Mark Macrae can probably illuminate the subject. I had a single one in a large collection I sold about 6-7 years ago. They are at least as tough as the E270 Tin Tops.

Tom.... Based on what I have, the 208 in Present series are tougher than Tin Tops. I have well over 100 Tin Tops and less than ten '208's. Based on what I've seen however, batches of the specialty Colgans can turn up and disrupt the scarcity scales in an instant

Does anyone have a list of the players that are in the 208 series?

Man, I learn something everytime I get on here! Not a big Colgan collector, but have maybe 30+. I've never even heard of the 208 variation and found nary a one in my collection.

About 15 years ago a group of around 20-25 showed up as individual lots on ebay. Some of the early ending lots went for a small premium, and then the pricing got higher, and I didn't end up with any. I didn't know anything about them at the time...as it turns out it was probably my one realistic shot at getting one. I only remember seeing them once since in an auction house lot.
I would say quite a bit more difficult than the Tin Tops. Brian |
