Default The 99 cent Autograph Auction - Ends This Evening After B J Strikes Out

This veteran Major Leaguer is featured on a 2007 Goudey style baseball card with his genuine hand-written autograph. The card is in NP condition (near pristine). To learn more about this big league player, please refer to the following thread

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=186311

An opening bid of 99 cents is requested. Increments of 25 cents are requested. Any form of payment is okay and yes, shipping is included.

The winner will receive a second autographed card of equal or greater value (not Uggla), just to make it interesting. The auction will end the next time B. J. strikes out.
No, that wont work. Lets make it Monday evening at 9PM CST. The winning bid will be reduced, by the number of times B. J. strikes out between now and the end of the auction (in pennies).

Upton at bats since the auction began with strike out countdown.

Friday - Single, Single, Grounded Out to third, Strikeout #1
Saturday - Triple, Flied out to right, Reached first on SS error, Strikeout #2, Single
Sunday - Flied out to center, Strikeout #3, Strikeout #4, Strikeout #5 (Does B J know he is costing me money today?)
Monday - Flied out to center, Grounded out to third, Grounded out to short, Strikeout #6, Strikeout #7

Kevin, if you want to make a max bid on this auction, let me know.

Frank - I would risk the investment, but I'm afraid you'd stick me with an Uggla autograph as the bonus.

Question: Is winning bid reduced if it is higher than BJs average at the end of the auction? I mean, I wouldn't want anyone to get scr*w'd.

This auction really has B J pumped. He's currently 3 for 5 with only 1 K since the auction began.

The opening bid of $1.00 was legitimate. 99 cents was just the minimum, but since B J has already struck out once, I am going to allow the second bid of $1.24. See strikeout discount provision above.

The next bid should be at least $1.49. The increment may be 25 cents or more.

I do not own an Uggla autograph so concerns about a bonus Uggla are unwarranted.

Thanks for the bids so far.

Default Ugglaphobia

To further allay the fear of receiving an Uggla auto as the bonus auto, I am going to post two bonus autos. One or both of these autos will be included with B J if certain bidding thresholds are reached.

When the bidding exceeds 5, 10 or 15 dollars one or both of the autos below will become part of the auction.

Bobby Doerr is indeed a hall of famer, but seems to have signed everything in sight and is not rare. He will be added once the bidding exceeds $5.

Jose Santiago started in the Negro Leagues, before his brief major league career in the mid fifties. His autograph is significantly rarer than Doerr.
He will be added instead of Doerr once the bidding exceeds $10.

If the bidding exceeds $15, both Doerr and Santiago will be added.

But alas if the bidding does not exceed $5, the second autograph may be ugly, but not Uggla.

15.25

I researched Santiago, hoping he was related to the '67 Boston righty of the same name, but he was not.

I did however find out that he gave up on one homer in 1955 in 31+ inning for the Tribe, was then sent to KC for 1956, where he gave up eight in just over 21 innings.

Among those eight, were the first Killebrew grand-slam and a pinch-hit homer in trash time by Bob Lemon.

That kind of back story makes me want that card.

Auction ends this evening. B J will still be able to strike out a few more times before it closes. Don't be complacent. Kevin is waiting to snipe the Upton sig this evening.
