Default OT: Casey Kasem RIP

One of the voices of my childhood passed today. Thankfully this ends for Casey having to witness the family struggle over him. I prefer to remember the man with the great stories and who inspired each week to keep reaching for the stars while remaining focused on the here and now.

I still listen weekly on the 70s channel on Sirius/FM. A legend.

It was essential listening. I loved the little ditties that punctuated the show, like "Casey's coast to coast!"

Default We should all make a vow right now!

To never treat our loved ones as bad as this family did. Reminds me Ted Williams' family. A real shame.

Honor thy mother and, today especially, thy father.

I thought the exact same thing, Raymond. Just a shame.

I grew up listening to Casey's countdown. RIP to a good man.

RIP. Here's to the countdown, and those meddling kids with their dumb dog.

Both Kasem and Thomas were born in Michigan to parents who had emigrated from Lebanon.

And for the record, Kasem does have a card. Since my house flooded and my cards are in a new storage place, I don't have a scan to post, but it is a 2001 Inkworks Scooby Doo Autograph of Casey. Doesn't sell for that much either. Tim Conway is also in the set.

Haha, you bet. Casey was the voice of cliffjumper, shown in the picture, and a couple other transformers from the original series back in 1984. He also had occasional role on Saved by the Bell
