Kinda baffling to me: More Fan Craze NL cards have been graded by PSA than the AL cards, but the split in Gem Mints is shocking: 76 for the ALers, and only 9 for the (more numerous overall) NLers. What could possibly explain this? Aren't they identical cards except for the backs?

One explanation might be found in the way the cards were distributed--in separate boxed sets for AL and NL. Seems one pristine set cracked and submitted might yield a large number of gems at one time, in this case A.L. If there were a small find of two or three such sets, that could skew it even more in favor of the A.L.
