Default Southern California Sports Collectors Show Update

I have been getting some PMs and emails asking about our next show. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are having our third show on May 3, 2014 at a new location: Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, CA.

The show will again be a one-day event with free admission and free parking, and a family-friendly atmosphere. Hours will be 10:00-4:00. Tables are still $95 each.

Our web site should be updated with more details by next week. In the meantime, if you want a vendor agreement, please PM me with your email address and I will get one over to you.

Hope to see you there!

The venue was cost prohibitive and didn't have the best parking situation. This place has the same square footage and better parking. We're hoping that anyone that came to Culver City won't mind coming down the freeway on a Saturday. We always have people both in the valley and in Orange County wish the show was closer to them. Hope to see everyone that's within driving distance. PM or click the website below for details.

90% of the show is vintage cards and memorabilia. We've actually been trying to get some more modern dealers in there.

This was a quote I heard from a customer at the second show:

"There is not enough new stuff, the old stuff they have is really nice but there isn't any new stuff."

Here are reviews of the first two shows.

While some on net54 may scoff at newer material being at the show, its important to remember that very few beginning collectors start out with 50 year old (or older) baseball cards. At the first show, I remember the two 20-somethings with a nice selection of recent Dodger material, and who among the exhibitors could forget Asher at the last show, one of the most polite and knowledgeable younger collectors out there. A good mix of material and exhibitors will attract more types of collectors and insure that the local hobby will last a few generations. New location looks like it will be more user friendly to everyone, and minimize the promoter's out of pocket losses they incurred at the previous shows. Looking forward to the show

Place is totally old school! (Literally too!)...I remember going to local shows at all manner of school auditoriums and gyms when I was first starting. Can't wait to do it again.

Since it is at a school, are there going to be refreshments for sale (maybe not this time but in the future?...I know my school allows sale of food and beverage for after hours/weekend events).

I cannot wait! I will drive the extra ten minutes (really, that is all it is past Culver City) for a great show and I would love a mix of old and new product. I do not buy the new stuff but I like looking at some of it.

Yes, we'll have refreshments available. Probably a street taco truck as well.
The location is much better than Culver City. It's only about a 10-15 minute drive south, but there is a huge parking lot right next to the venue- less than 100' away. It's a few blocks off the freeway so it's pretty convenient overall.
And Mark, Asher and his brother Riley will definitely be there- he's been bugging me every 3 days since the last show.

Save a table for me - I'll bring some old bats and a few boxes of T cards.

The show is a blast; very old school vibe. Some serious cards there, too. I will def roll again.

Mark is, of course, dead on for a show's mix.

I'm going to find out on Sunday how the dealer mix I ended up is going to work out. We did sell out of our tables with me using a first come/first serve method but I know enough of the dealers that I'm comfortable with the final selection.

What is also interesting, is because of the very reasonable table prices )$25). I figure about 40 percent of my dealers are actually collectors looking to move their duplicates or dealers that usually do not set up in the DFW area. Many times, those dealers have great deals because their mission is to raise funds to add to their collection. I'm personally excited about the mix we have because to me, these type of new dealers are usually great to deal with,

After the show, I'll also notate what each person brought so I can make adjustments if needed for future shows.

But Mark is correct, while WE on this board want to see old material, the great majority of collectors could not care about a tuff back on a T206 card but are certainly interested in a Mike Trout or Bryce Harper card.

Regards
Rich
