Before he became a minor league ballplayer, 19-year-old Johnny VanderMeer played the role of "the typical American boy" in a 1933 documentary movie short (Movie Tone) about a sandlot player getting his first major tryout.
It was titled "A Typical American Boy" and filmed in a studio in Miami where Johnny tried out for the Brooklyn Dodger franchise. I've tried MovieTone, Pathe, everywhere and can't find it. It would be amazing to locate this. Any suggestions? Rob Skead |
