The third under bidder has had 117 bid retractions in the last 6 months. Always good to see that in an auction with an extremely fake card that wouldn't (shouldn't) fool almost any experienced collector.

What are the tricks to spotting a fake Goudey? I have not purchased one, real or otherwise.

When you have seen hundreds of real ones, which are sharply focused with crisp printing, then you see a piece of crap like this one, with blurry and unfocused everything, you just know.....and it takes all of a half of a second.

I would love to hear some of the finer points. Please send me a PM if you can help.

I agree with Leon in that this fake is very bad...BUT...there is quite a bit of variation in clarity and tones in 33-34 goudeys in general. One should look at numerous examples to learn the range.

I am interested in learning more and will have to keep an eye out for learning opportunities.
