Several of the early caramel sets (e90, e92, e101, e102, etc) share the same card image but have different backs much the same way as the different t206 series. I was curious how everyone would match up the different t206 backs to these caramel sets and their corresponding backs. For simplicity, let's think about the typical card from the caramel sets and not the extremely easy or extremely tough cards from a set (i.e. ignore the e102 Wagner throwing, e92 Nadja Bresnahan, e105 Young/Knight, etc). Below are a few that I think match up fairly well. Agree, disagree, fill in the rest.
E90-1 - piedmont/sweetcaps (except f42) E92 Dockman - polar bear E92 crofts candy black - ? E92 crofts candy blue - ? E92 crofts candy red - broadleaf 460 E92 crofts cocoa - ? E92 Nadja - broadleaf 350 E101 - ? E102 - ? E105 - black lenox E106 - ? DJ

Being a relatively new caramel collector, I have had this same thought recently. I sure wish I had some valuable input. Looking forward to seeing what others think.

Is the (except f42) "qualifier" referring to Factory 42 Overprints? If so, how much more rare are those? I am new to pre-war but do have Cobb Bat Off with SC Factory 42 overprint back. Thanks for helping us newbies out!

The overprints you are thinking of are probably on the Sweet Caporal series. He is referring to Factory 42, the tobacco factory where the cigarettes were made and packaged. Well, actually in looking at it there are both listed.....so it is the Piedmont Factory 42's which are the scarce ones.
