Hi all, I am attempting to put together a type card set of Louisiana issues. I have 17 cards on my list, but I am probably missing a few. I would appreciate any info on any other sets that were made in Louisiana. Here is what I have:
T211 T213 3 types T214 T215 2 types (I am not counting Pirates, since these appear to have been made in England) Plus, the Red Cross cards appear to have made in NJ, but Lew Lipsett's book shows them as a Louisiana issue, so I'm not sure they should be on this list. T216 Kotton 3 back types Mino Virginia Extra Weil Baking 1916 and 1917 Holsum 1920 and 1921 Mothers Bread 1916 Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,
Another D303 besides Mothers Bread is General Baking. Also I don't see Tango Eggs on your list. |

Excellent thread. Being from LA, I've thought about doing a type set like this but I've never got around to it.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this. ![]() |

If memory serves, I believe Virginia Extra, Mino, and Kotton come in a thin, paper-like version and if so you may want to add those three to your list as well.

Nice Ewing, David.
Thanks Rick and Jeremy. That cabinet is of Shorty Fuller, also an n172 subject, and was identified by Mark from SABR. I don't know much about them, but I think the 1911-14 D304 bread cards are New Orleans cards. Here's a t213-3, factory 3, Type 3, Cobb bat ![]() ![]() |

There is reference to General Baking on D304s though. EDIT - found this on another website: "The history of General Host may be traced to 1911, when the General Baking Co. was incorporated in New York as an amalgamation of 19 former baking businesses covering many major cities between New Orleans and Boston." So it looks like only certain brands (such as Mother's) were LA brands. Others were NY brands, and General Baking was NY-based. Cheers, Blair

It's interesting that the T215 Red Cross say "New Jersey" on the back, but were almost surely distributed in Louisiana, as so many have been discovered there. |

Being from Louisiana I'm loving this thread. The amount of knowledge on this site is amazing.
I also like how patient y'all are with some of us that are new to vintage. |
