I just picked up a E92 Oakes and noticed that his glove was printed into the border. After doing a little looking I realized they where all printed like this. I was wandering if there where other cards printed on the border on purpose? If so, show them.

Texxxx,
Those in the know realize that many of your cards are printed South of the Border ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have a similar Rhoades for sale in the BST, just a little more fuzzy. Cool card
I don't know about any other intentional ones off-hand, but once I saw that Oakes I had to get it. Great card Here are more with printing in the border, mostly the Tenney, which is one of my favorite cards. I have another to scan, might do it now if I can, something I've only seen a few times on a t206

I believe it was Wonka that posted one of these before and I said, oh snap! I gotta go one of those. Took a long time and when I finally did get one, it was just in with a large lot of cards that I purchased. I definitely would have paid extra for one. Who else has a card with part of the caption colored in?

I might be wrong but I think Texxx means cards that the picture is designed to cross over the border and not one that does it due to a color shift printing error.

He is and I even said that I don't know of any others off-hand. I have the Oakes card, but he already showed it.

Doesn't the bat on a 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig cross into the top border?

I'm pretty sure the only C46 card I have crossed over the border.

These aren't pre-war, but they meet the OP's criteria:

Thanks guys. I was just curious. I knew there where several post war cards that where designed to be out side of the borders but the Oakes was the first one I had seen in prewar. There are a lot of cards I haven't seen though and knew this board would know better. So we are up to two, Oakes and Gehrig.

![]() ![]() Here is another Stahl hnds hd high with registration errors. For whatever reason I have seen this card with a color shift more often than an average t206. I do not believe that you can differentiate intent between the caramel Oakes image and the T206 Rhoades arm extends. In both cases I believe the artist's intent was to create a 3-d effect. I have seen the Oakes card where the glove is just short of the border. You can find Rhoades without either his right ear or right hand adjacent to a border, but it is uncommon. I think the 33 Gehrig is more an example of a common printing error... as the ones I have seen where the bat extends past the border do not have a continuation of full color past the border, rather only a yellow strip is visible, like in the Stahl example. |

Gordon's bat extends into Philley's border.
Stephen's bat does likewise with Fannin. |

Several of the N321 S. F. Hess California League cards feature portions of the image extending into the border.

i think the OP meant cards that were supposed to be that way, not cards with poor registration...

The T206 Shaw glove appears to be quite common, looks more like the part of the glove in the border wasn't removed when designing the card.
