Hi All,
Came across this signed document from the Wright & Ditson Victor Co c.1929 and the price is a little too good. Would love some expert opinions on this one before I do anything. One issue I have is that my research seems to indicate that Wright & Ditson Victor Co existed from 1918-1927. This particular document is dated 1929 and calls for the sale of the company's assets? Thanks for any thoughts! Charlie. First, IMO the autograph is 100% legit. I purchased a similar Wright from this seller last month for mid-three figures on a signed Proxy slip, Now I am starting to think I overpaid, but I am not complaining.
I chatted with the Seller as he put his initial find on Ebay back in April and has since went back to the original supplier and was able to acquire some additional signatures last month and is slowing selling those off. He said he has a "few more" left, but he would not quantify. There is another thread regarding the initial listings here: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=166263 |

Its real, but I would hate to have paid a lot for a George Wright signature before this year! I bet the total number of them out there has tripled in the last few Months and it appears more are still coming out. Eventually the hobby will absorb them all but it might take some time for prices to rebound.

This is why it sucks for people to out auctions. This morning the auction only had 8 people watching it and 12 views. But now since this thread it doubled in watches.

Whatever the supply eventually turns out to be , remember George Wright died in 1937.
When the Ty Cobb checks first came out and they were $35.00 each. They quickly jumped to $65.00. Rumor was that there were 7-10 THOUSAND of them !!!!! So I remember thinking even at $65.00 the quantity would never , ever justify paying that much. I was obviously wrong.. ![]() Now I realize George Wright is NOT Ty Cobb , I don't know how many Wright's are out there but would bet its ALOT less than the Cobb's when they surfaced , and remember Cobb died in 1961 Almost three decades after Wright. ___________________ jim@stinsonsports.com Jim Stinson BUYS and SELLS vintage autographs stinsonsports.com |

Yeah...good luck getting it under a grand now...a lot of HOF collectors with a Wright missing in their collections.

Must be a new record, less than 8 hours left went from 8 watchers to 24 watchers. Just shows outing auctions does affect the outcome

Damn, the last one of these pages sold for 386. I think a few people, like me, wanted to see how many of these were left and didn't bid on that one. After that one, I think those people, like me, thought they might get this one for a similar price. Someone got a steal, and people are jumping back in.
Crazy hobby, this.

I agree Jim, the prices are definately taking a hit right now due to the massive influx of supply, but once that stops they will absolutely rebound and be where they were a few years ago. I had the only three John Morrill autographs that were known to exist until a few months ago, now THAT is a different story. I will be buried with those things before I get my money back! Its ok though, I think this is what is exciting about the autograph hobby, new significant discoveries are still out there to be found!

Someone found a ledger with a bunch of company documents, many with Wright's signature. Apparently they have been releasing these 1-2 at a time. Not sure how many there are.

Thanks Scott. Sounds like there could be quite a few Wrights.

True, but as you know, while two Wrights is not an issue, too many Wrights can often lead to a 'wrong'.

David, that is super-cool. I will now have to add them to my 'need' list.
I was discussing a 'dream memorabilia' list with my son the other day, and an original Wright Brothers bicycle was on that list. I believe I saw one at the National Museum last Fall.

That would be pretty cool, Scott. But (assuming I had a place to put it), I'd rather have an original Wright airplane, c. 1905 or so.

The date ranges are such that it looks like someone found a pile of Wright & Ditson ledgers.
There could be tons of these. I'm putting in a buy order for $75
