Any thoughts on the price this went for? Scarcely seen and neat pose...

Yeah, I'm sure if it was listed correctly, would have went for more.

I thought so too but cut so closely I think it might be about right. Had there been some borders left I probably would have bid.. Cool pose though...

Yeah, that was my first thought when I clicked to view the listing. Not that I have any...I don't, yet want, and wouldn't mind

I was the under bidder on the card as I'm one of those going after the complete OB set. This was the first time I had ever seen that version made available as his other pose is a little more easily found.
I gave a lot of thought to going higher but there's some other rare stuff in upcoming auctions I want to make a run at so I stayed put where I was. |

I think that was the t206 Orange "Brothers" Wagner, actually. However, this card did have the advantage of being "outed" on the board a few days back so that certainly helped it despite the listing.

Probably one of the best looking Wags I've seen. He looks young in that card.

To a low-grade to beater collector like me, I think the buyer got a great deal on this one.it's a nice, rarely seen Wagner-I would guess everyone just wanted a little border and that was why it sold so cheap.

I've never seen that pose before. Anyone here have one?

I haven't seen another and thought it might be an uncataloged version but then looked in the Krause Big Book and it is there.

There was a dealer at the Philly show approx. 1-2 years ago that was selling one with full orange borders. He offered it to me at around $5000. Probably should have taken the plunge but passed.

Yep, the "batting" variation of that Wagner is definitely catalogued as I've needed that card and 6 commons to finish off my Orange Border set for quite some time now. I do know of two other collectors who are just as far along if not closer to finishing the set than myself who already have that Wagner batting pose however.
Here's the Wagner variation I do have though. I think you see this one around a little more although neither show up often at all. Great shot of Wagner in this variation, I think I'd have to say I like this pose a bit more ![]() wagners-001.jpg |

when i saw this post a few days ago i assumed it was the portrait-esque pose as this is the only pose i've seen in the orange borders. i like the batting pose...it's kinda like the pose on the green w555 look a like cards. to me it's just another example of an obscure...pretty rare card that doesn't appeal to many due to it's obscurity which seems to keep the price down.
although in this case it seems if better advertised many here had interest! |

Brian, I noticed that pose on one other card just now....his 1912 WUnc "w555-like" card, which is actually every bit as rare. I don't believe more than 3-4 examples of each card are known are they?

They put a "P" on his chest for the Orange Border card. Other than that, it's the same image. Good catch!

Whoever originally wanted it might now be able to get it at a fair price. Make a real offer!
![]() If all had seen it, supposedly it would have gone much higher anyway right? |
