Hi Tolstoi
Just curious, you have "rare" in the title and say they are hard to find. Can you help me understand what you mean?

I was wondering the same thing. What's rare about them? Seem normal to me.

Default Goudeys

I have always found it harder to pick up the Goudey hall of famers in nicer mid grades. The cards aren't easy to find in any regard. I amassed a decent T206 HOF collection in a few months (only missing Cobb and the crazy expensive Plank and Wagner) in low grades but nice eye appeal, whereas it took me literally a few years to amass all the Goudey Hofers (exc. Ruth and Gehrig). I didn't see a decent Cuyler, Grove, or Waner for what seemed like a year on ebay when I was collecting these and perhaps the one time I did I was unbelievably outbid.

The set is extremely undervalued, however I have noticed price increases as of late on ebay. Anybody who says this set isn't rare will have a tough go when putting the HOFers together unless they possess an extensive pocket book.

I agree. Tons of 2's and 3's out there. Fours get tricky then availability falls off a cliff at EX. There are a handful of HOFers I am having a real tough time with.

Pm sent on Arky and Cronin.

Fair enough. I don't collect Goudey's, per se, so really didn't know what you meant. Now I know...I have never thought any of the Goudey's particularly rare otherwise, Lajoie notwithstanding.

I hear what you're saying, Leon. The thing I always have to remind myself is that the descriptor "rare" and the term "hard to find" don't always align in this hobby.
