I picked up this Babe Ruth card off ebay and just received it tonight. I am not really sure what it is.
A google search seams to indicate it's an R308 card of Babe Ruth. It measures 5 1/2" wide x 9" tall and is on a thicker stock. It's definitely old and has a few names written on the back including: Harvey Baker 19?3 Richard Eugene Nancy I purchased it from an antique seller on ebay and I found it on an oddball search as it wasn't really categorized in the pre-war cards but under photos. Anyway any help would be appreciated. It is pretty cool and is my second Babe Ruth item in my collection along with a Type II photo from the 30's. It will make a great display piece. Thanks Tom |

Isn't the R308 series Tatoo Orbits?

FYI, you picked up a R309-1 Goudey Babe Ruth that is part of a 4 card set issued in 1933 & 1934. The other 3 cards include the 1933 N.L. & A.L. All-Star teams as well as the 1933 World Champion N.Y. Giants. The Ruth is the most valuable of the four cards. It's a great looking Ruth vintage card. Enjoy your pick-up!

Where there is paper loss on the backs of the two shown there used to be a piece of cardboard that could be folded out to make the card stand up like an easel. They would sometimes be displayed in this manner on countertops in stores that sold the candy. There is also a green one out there that believe is a one of a kind proof.
