Default price opinion on a card

original poll question: please take the poll and give your opinion on this card if you were planning to buy it.

after edit:
there is some concern from the person who is on the other side of this poll, that it is skewed towards the potential buyer, based on the wording. when voting, please vote on what a fair price, to the buyer and seller would be, and have that vote be your voting amount.

Default PSA 7 Brown

There is no other side of this poll, period. This guy asked me about any Pied 150's I had in my collection, and what price I would sell them for. He indicated most of his collection are 5's, and almost all of the list I sent him were PSA 7's, and I did not have a big desire to sell them. I gave him a price if he wanted to buy the card, and explained that this is one of the toughest HOFer's to find in high grade. Tonite is the second time I told him that I no longer wanted to sell it. I have no earthly idea what is driving him to waste alot of people's time, The card is presently NOT for sale....thanks

According to PSA, the card is valued at $1650.00. But of course, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Regardless of value or availability for sale, I will say this. That is one great looking card.

I'll agree with that and add that this board gets more entertaining everyday.

As I told you in an email... This poll is not about whether you want to sell card any longer. It's about everything else you said in the email exchanges.

Dont worry. I will explain after the poll.

Kevin has always been fair to me so I would imagine that he's being honest by saying he basically inflated the price to make it worth his while since he was not motivated to let it go. All cards are for sale for the right price.

Beautiful card. I've owned a dozen and they're hard to find in this grade.

Exactly one of my points. You feel you have to resort to that to convince me you are right about your price....like I insulted you with my counter email...

You instantly told me I don't know what I'm talking about and I need to learn something...

We are here now taking a poll to see who is closer...

Additionally all cards were presented as doubles or sgc to Psa change overs due to desiring Psa cards.

It seems to me the most pertinent question is what will he sell it for, not what those of us who are not looking for one (but voting) would pay for it. That is unless I am missing some vital information here.

I once negotiated with a collector on a rare card for over 6 months once. We were miles apart in the beginning, but after periodic e-mails back and forth, we finally came to an agreement.

I would have been very upset if any part of the negotiation were broadcast on a chat board, especially in the form of a poll. If you didn't like the offer, say thanks and move on.

The missing vital information is the argument is about the value of the card...not about what he would sell it at. The email conversation went from an email negotiating price to how I know nothing about the value of high grade Psa cards.

I'm wiling to accept that he wants a high dollar for the card and that we may not reach a deal but that doesn't mean it's worth what he is asking. The argument he made was that it is worth his asking price.

The only thing I did was to try to rationalize that my price is closer to where others agree the value of the card would be.

Kevin- One thing that I tried to explain to you, when you collect 5's there is very little price difference price wise, you have very little risk. You pay between $100-150, maybe a little higher on low pop cards. When you collect 7's and 8's, it is a whole different ballgame. You seem to be taking something way to personal. These prices really go crazy because of the Master set collectors, and also because of very low pops depending on the player....

The value of the card is exactly what the highest bidder will pay for it. No formula will answer that question.

Guys. I'm not 15. I said I get it.

I have 5 6 7 and 8s to you on the phone. My min criteria is a 5. You some how translated this to mean I know nothing about card values over a 5 in your own mind lol.

There is going to be price flux. I said in email.... That's fine. Your asking über retail. I'm closer to mainstream. The actual price is somewhere in the middle and then you sent some more condescending remarks etc.

I followed up with maket examples... You said some more condescending remarks... I followed up again showing you another expletive of how I can get a better deal and that my numbers are not far off.

You sent some more condescending remarks.

So I put it to a poll...

Default Value

The simple value to a card is what someone will pay for it. What the asking price is, is up to the owner. If you don't like the asking price then move on. If the seller doesn't like the offer then hopefully he moves on. No other rhetoric needs to take place. Simple business.

Why are we dicussing what appears to be another private squabble over price/availability/value of a card?--another vote for "don't care"

Very entertaining. I think the card would sell well at an auction because it presents so well.

I think this is easy...Kevin wanted a general consensus on a card's value, so he set up a poll. By the looks of it, it worked because most of the people voted in a small area of pricing. Of course you will never know what one card is really worth because it's up to the seller and buyer...but I don't think that's the point of this thread, and for some reason people keep eluding to it.

Also, why would Kevin add a "don't care" to the poll...if you're not interested in contributing, then leave the thread. Pretty simple if you ask me.

However, I would be careful posting a boched transaction because of what happened in this thread. The last thing you want is bad blood on the board over differing opinions. Probably would have been best just to describe the card and not tell everyone what happened between you and the seller.

Default In an auction

Value is one bid higher than the second bidder. This is not a card up for auction. Seller can ask what he wants buyer can pass. Value is not determined by a poll. Especially a poll that says what would you pay. Not a card I personally chase so my buy offer was lower than value, but still more than many others answered.

I didn't vote because I don't care but I do think it's a valid discussion. I would prefer personal squabbles not make it to the board but when they are in the middle of card deals they do. It might have been better to just ask , in a poll, what the value of this card is, without all of the other background noise. But I don't see anything out of line with the thread.

For the record, I too, price cards that aren't for sale much higher than market value....because I don't really want to sell them. If they are for sale I either price them at market or close to market, or they don't sell. Pretty easy to understand. And lastly, of course great looking cards for the grade sell for more than less great looking cards for the grade.

i tried to have a informationless poll to get the fairest results, in which this did not occurr....which got currupted by the other kevin airing out the details...no names or details were ever going to be given around this. it turned into that the second i was forced to defend myself around why the poll existed.

Actually, you promised to explain the reason after the poll closed, which prompted Kevin's response. If he wants 5k for it then that is what that particullar example is worth to the owner. You can alway look for a different PSA 7.

I never said that i would detail who was involved or what their role was. i was simply going to explain the situation that prompted the poll. your making an assumption that i would call someone directly out as being the person i am speaking about, which was not going to be the case.

As I explained before, all cards were explained as doubles or looking to get rid of to change over graded cards to PSA graded.

Never was there an indication that the cards did not want to be sold, and that I was interested in purchasing a card that the seller did not really want to part with.

Would the other Kevin have known how "vague" you planned on being? If not he may have felt like he needed to respond.

Either way that is presumtuous.....I emailed him and told him about the poll. I never said i was doing it in mal intent, behind is back or anything else, and I told him that it was to learn what others feel is the value of the card in question.

This thing has grown to something that it never was meant to be. It was just a simple poll, with no names behind it.

The same card and grade is currently up for auction and ends in 11 days if that helps.
