t206 Drum Mystery Cut?

I've noticed that some t206 Drum backs have the same cut on the upper border. Anyone know anything about this?

I presumed it was part of a collection, just couldn't find the link.

Anyone know why these were cut in such a way? Trimmed to be put in sleeves?

Hunt auctions had a find several years ago and all the Drums were trimmed along the top and some were pretty torn up. There also were several t205 Drums
