Hi guys,
I collected 52 Topps (I just sold off) and 1933 Goudey (31 graded PSA cards I am currently selling off as a lot as well...this is not a advertisement but just a simple fact to my collecting habits changing) but there was missing a felling in doing so...the history and been part of it (early days of baseball). Here is a link to my 1st T-206 purchase...I paid a tad to much but the guy will ship for free using Fedex 2 day service (60$ cost): http://www.ebay.ca/itm/380582115643?...84.m1497.l2649 ![]() Last edited by Zone91; 03-20-2013 at 10:45 AM. |

By the way I live in Canada and love baseball more than hockey!!! I follow the Toronto Blue Jays almost every game they play as well as the New York Yankees (since I live on the East Coast).

Hahahah lolllll I am currently reading his book (Christy Mathewson) then comes Ty Cobbs then Babe Ruths and so on and so on. I have SO MUCH to learn it feels awesome!!! I studied sociology at university and finished in 2006 and ever since then I crave learning...and up till now...yes 7 years I had found nothing that offered that type of challenge but the T-206 set AKA The Monster. I no nothing at all about the back types and will be putting most of my free time learning the most I can. I found this link on this site it looks really complicated and I love that. I may also get involved in the 1887 Old Judge series but that one seems just to complicated http://www.t206resource.com/Back%20Rankings%20List.html |

That is a great first card.
![]() What a way to start the set. Whenever we discuss which T206 is the most attractive card, the two that are always mentioned are that Mathewson and the Cobb bat off the shoulder. By the way there is a recent book on the set including biographies of the players. I'm finished with my copy, so if you want it you can have it ( no charge of course). PM if you want it. Good luck with the set. I hope you have as much fun collecting as I have had. |

Great first T206. Not many nicer than the Matty. Good luck on your journey. If you really want to learn a lot about this set, read Scot Reader's Inside T206 which is available for free online. A great reference for this set.

My goal is to put as many different backs together of certain star players (15 to 20 different players like Cobb, Mathewson, Cy Young and so on and so on. A few cards each year)...I can't afford to put the whole set together I guess like 99% of the people collecting this set.

Zone91: you are talking about what we call a "back run". This can be more expensive than collecting the whole set. Some backs are quite rare (read: expensive) and to find a rare back on a star player will be very expensive. There is a Cobb with a one-of-a-kind Brown Lenox back in a Goodwinandco.com auction right now. The last I checked the bidding was over $22,000.
![]() I'm not trying to discourage you. I just want you to know how expensive your goal can be. |

Sean's:
I realize the price but I am only 32 years old and have started my career in 2007 (finished university in 2006) so my thinking is I have a lot of time to save up and try my best with what I have to collect what I can...I will never be able to put the whole thing together...simply add a few cards a year at a time and grow from there. My annual budget would be around 4k to 5k for my T-206 hobby. I am by no means a millionaire but I think I can add some nice cards with that amount of money (1 to 3 cards a year). I have a feeling adding only 1 to 3 cards a year will cause you to lose interest real fast. I would go for the set in low grade as you go and pick up some bigger profile cards as you go. I just don't think it will be as fulfilling to only obtain a couple cards a year. Plus if you pick up raw commons along the way you will get to learn more about the set in the process. And you'll be able to appreciate the cards a lot more.
Just my thoughts. AndyH
