For those of us that enjoy displaying our collections, what are some of your favorite "type cards" that pair well with other types of the same player.
These two cards, which I acquired this year, work well together: Johnny Kling E91-A and Johnny Kling Plow Boy Tobacco Cabinet. Let's see your favorite type cards of an individual player that pair well! Patrick |

Keeping with the catching theme. Here is a pair of Miguel Angel "Mike" Gonzalez cards. Mike Gonzalez is super underrated for a man who was a true baseball pioneer. He was one of the first Cubans to play in the Major Leagues (1912). He had a 17 year major league career. He became a well respected coach with the St. Louis Cardinals and manged the team on two short occasions. In Cuba he was a long time player, manager and team owner of the Habana club. His baseball involvement spanned seven decades.

I collect three sets: DeLong, Diamond Stars, Wilson Franks. There are several players that overlap between the first two but only one that overlaps with Wilson Franks.

Thank you! I kind of like the matching photo/card pairs (Lewis and Richards) but they're all cool.

1933 player, 1955 ump.
He's not the only player/ump, but he had one of the most successful player careers compared to the other umps. Warneke played until 1945, but his first experience as an umpire was in 1940 while still a player. A rained-out game between CIN and STL was rescheduled, but because of NL oversight there were no umpires booked to work the game. The game was delayed while they went looking for umpires from an earlier played game, finding only 1 before he left town. An official game needed 3 umpires, so each team provided a player to umpire 1st and 3rd. Lon Warneke was the STL representative umpire at 3rd base. |

A couple of Babes and a pair of Teds!
I like to find a cool Harry Heilmann card to go with my Lucky Strike sign, but that’s down the road! Babe usually lives in the safe, not on top of that spittoon! Time for the weekend and college football! Bob Last edited by B O'Brien; 08-30-2024 at 03:17 PM. |

I like this thread because it's open to interpretation as to what makes a pairing. Here is the same pose for two different players in two different sets.
