This came from John Goldberg, a central Florida dealer/collector who passed away a few years ago. The player is Bud Bloomfield. Thought it was worth sharing.

Nice! He obviously sent the 64 RC to be signed.
That's funny about the "suing" comment, which was obviously tongue-in-cheek. But it is not a laughing matter at Topps. I accidentally put Earl Averill Jr.'s photo on Earl Averill's 2001 Topps Tribute card. My boss informed me that we could be sued as we didn't have the rights to Jr's image. Jr. laughed it off, and it is another Topps card with an incorrect image.

Thanks, but this was 12 years ago and I heard that Jr. just laughed it off.

That is a classic response. Thanks for sharing. And on the lawsuit subject, I would like to have a dollar for each time I have been threatened with one concerning this board.

Leon if you threaten to sue on a forum board doesn't that mean you lost the argument and you are not a big enough man to admit it?

No, it usually means whomever is threatening the suit, be it a lawyer (most times) or a layperson, is an idiot and doesn't know the law. Some of my funnest moments are toying with lawyers who don't do their homework on Section 230 of the Federal Communications and Decency Act and send me Cease and Desist orders. Section 230 protects forum owners against lawsuits for what their users (publishers) say on the forum. Of course I am liable for what I say but not what you say.

In the late 1970's, I received a response from 1950s player Ted Tappe. He signed his name on a 3x5, and on the bottom of the card wrote "Get yourself a real hobby"

And, in the late 1980's I received a reply from a rookie (who shall remain nameless) who went on to a 15+ year Major League career, who signed the index card and added "Things for righting me"
