If you could go back in time to visit one game that you weren't able to attend or watch one player play that you never got to see, what and/or who would it be?
As a Dodgers fan, for me, it would be to attend the first game that Jackie Robinson played in for the Dodgers at Ebbett's Field on April 15, 1947.

I'd love to have seen a game Jimmy Claxton pitched in, but not the game when he integrated the PCL (1916). Instead I'd go with Claxton in his prime. His only recorded no-hitter (June 22, 1924) in the Tacoma Industrial League. The first two men got on due to errors and Claxton finished the rest in order (4-1 victory). Claxton also led the league in stolen bases that season, beating out a young centerfielder for the Tacoma Avenuers named Roy Johnson.
Fielder Jones was the president of the T.I.L.. When Babe Ruth came to town on a barnstorming tour in October 1924, the only pitcher to throw a no-hitter that season (Claxton) was left off the TIL All-Star roster. Would ask Fielder WTF? http://digitum.washingtonhistory.org...ISOBOX=1&REC=1 Babe, center, middle row Last edited by pariah1107; 01-16-2013 at 02:45 PM. |

Tough call, I would have liked to see Cobb play, and would love to have been at Larsen's world series perfect game, and Mazerowski's 1960 homer against the Yanks, I did see and remember the noise at the game over the TV.
But watching the Babe play ball everyday with a youthful joy would have to be on top of my wish list. He just had fun. billyb |

I would love to see Walter Johnson at the height of his powers. Maybe a game in 1913 when he set the A.L. scoreless innings record.

Any game prior to the All-Star break in 1976 pitched by Randy Jones of the San Diego Padres. He's always been my favorite player and pitcher.

The one game I`d love to go back in time was of course my very 1`st Boston Red Sox game that my father took my brother and I to in 1968. We sat about 8 rows back behind the visitors (Indians) dugout on the 3`rd base side. I remember being absolutely amazed at the size and surroundings of Ole Fenway. The crowd, actually seeing the players close up, and the whole 1`st game experience was of course a once in a lifetime day. Pretty sure the Sox won 8-3 with Hawk Harreleson, George Scott and maybe Mike Andrews going deep. Hard to believe that was 45 years ago, Thank you Dad as you can see it was a day I`d never forget !

3 games in my mind:
A Sandy Koufax perfect game (enough said) A Nolan Ryan No-Hitter (I did see the CalTech Radar game in Guiness Book Records) A 1916 Duel between pitchers Walter Johnson and Babe Ruth (August 15, 1916 Ruth defeated Walter Johnson 1-0 in 13 innings) |

I would go back to a world series game where Babe Ruth hit 3 home runs in the game.
Or, the first game in Yankee Stadium when The Babe hit the first home run there.

This game may not be my favorite, but I sure wish I was there, 25 April 1976, Dodger Stadium, Rick Monday saved flag from two arsonists.
His next at bat, he got standing ovation, it must have been quiet a feeling. billyb |

For me, it would either be watching Bob Hendley of the Cubs throw a one hitter, but losing the game on an unearned run in 1965.
Or, the Marichal v Spahn 16 inning duel in 1963. Although the Haddix game is up there on my list. Doug Last edited by doug.goodman; 01-25-2013 at 08:43 PM. |

The film that emerged a few years ago seem to back this story up and yes, this is the one game I wish I could go back and see. Listening to the old men who were actually there was as close as I am ever going to get. |

The second all-star game at the polo grounds July 10th 1934.
If I can only go back to see one game this would be a great one that would allow me to see the Polo grounds and see more players play. In 33 I would have gotten to see Ruth hit a homer, but less players played. Plus adding Hubbell's 5 consecutive strike outs of Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Al Simmons and Joe Cronin would be a feat that would be interesting to see. ![]() Last edited by bn2cardz; 01-30-2013 at 11:28 AM. |

The game when "the light shined down on the stadium as the night edged into Baltimore on Sept. 6, 1995", Cal's 2,131st consecutive game. I was in the 7th grade I believe.
