But I think my runner-up item is this 7' Ladder from Crosley Field. It came from the Press Box, probably in case of Fire or Emergency. My biggest might be this 1940s DeLuxe Baseball Pitch & Hit Machine. Great thread! Last edited by perezfan; 02-03-2013 at 11:59 PM. |

Guys.............Hello. These are the two large, original, section direction signs from the upper deck in Tiger Stadium dating back to about 1938 when the outfield upper deck was built. We purchased both signs in the city's very unorganized online auction in 2007. Each measures roughly 4'x8'. As shown in the photo, one of our two original signs is on the top with the wood frame and flaking paint, and the lower sign was an aluminum overlay that was pop-riveted to the original with white vinyl decals at some point in later years to probably 'freshen up' their look by stadium crews who were tired of painting the originals. From what we saw when picking up our signs at the stadium, even all of the smaller section signs that measured about 4'x4' had these aluminum overlays.....so each sign was really 2 signs. Once home, we immediately popped off the crappy, newer overlays to reveal the original beauties underneath. The last photo was taken through the center field tunnel to the field with the famous flag pole's white base just to the right.....and most of the orange and blue seats already yanked out and sold by the crew.

Adam, that poster looks like about 5" x 5" on my screen - surely it's much larger?

Scott, the first time I took my daughter to Disneyland she was about 2 and she spent the whole week talking about meeting Mickey Mouse. We went to the mouse house in Fantasyland and waited an hour to see Him. She freaked out when we finally got into His office. Crying, hiding, screaming in terror. We left and after she calmed down a bit I asked her why she was so scared. "Daddy," she said, "he was so big." She thought he was going to be 5" tall like on TV, not a six-foot giant rat.
The proportions on the computer screen are not true to life, just like the men inside the tv aren't really tiny men. Or did that just blow your mind? ![]()

A bit OT, but I evaluated that "Dubuque 1879" photo for someone a few years ago - the guy identified as Comiskey is for sure not Comiskey. That's definitely not Jack Rowe, and the Radbourn ID is ansolutely bogus. I wouldn't be too confident of any of the others.
