I have no affiliation with this seller, but came across on Ebay and thought I'd post here.

I am sure the set is worth it but the bid history is kinda weird after the $1000+ mark.

Default Hidden reserves curb bidding???

Assuming the cause is legit and assuming the condition of the cards is accurately stated, wouldn't you be more likely to bid on this item without the hidden reserve? That's always a turn off for me. Just start the bidding at the level of the reserve IMO. If it's not totally unreasonable, the item will sell at or above that level.

I agree. Putting a reserve on it just screams "throw a ton of money out there and spend more than what its worth because its to help a sick kid .... but if you dont throw enough we ain't selling it"

What, is the kid gonna die if they dont get 10k or something? (i mean that in the nicest way)

If you are going to pull the "times are tough" card then be happy with anything you get.

Well, the set sold for $4250, which met the reserve, so I guess his son can have the surgery. I still have to wonder what would have happened if the reserve wasn't met?
