Although I'm not a huge card collector I've always loved the look of this card for the pure beauty that it captures. It has baseball action written all over it. What's your favorite baseball card that captures a true "action" scene??

I like this one not so much for the action but the fact it shows Joe Dimaggio wearing #18 in his rookie year prior to being given #5

I've always liked the t3 action cards such as "safe at third", "out at third", & "close play at 2nd". Sorry don't have any scans to show.

The Pee Wee Reese card is the first one that comes to mind (although that "in action" shot was not "in game").
The E92/E90-1 Rebel Oakes cards is also very cool. I actually first learned of this card on Net54, many years ago, and instantly added it to my list of cards to pick up. And although it's far from prewar, I'd like to use my once in awhile pass to post a non-prewar card in this forum, as it's one of the best action shots in the hobby. |

One of the earliest "in action" pictures there is, circa 1865.

Come on, nothing says 'action' like this silly card of Mr. Davis getting beaned. It always makes me laugh. This is the best shot of Willie that Topps could find???

I really like the Willie Davis. It's funny cause I actually played ball in college with his son. He is starting to collect Willie Davis cards now and I don't believe he has that one. I will tell him about it an he will think that one is funny. I was actually able to give him a 63 post short print of Willie last week for Christmas.

I love the Munson, still remember pulling that card when I was 9 years old. Unfortunately, still remember balling my eyes outs when he passed away, was just talking about it a few days ago with one of my friends.

I can't stop lauging. I think it was Mark McRae that told me these backs were written by local college students.. good to see that 19 year olds had the same irreverent sense of humor 100 years ago.

There are several neat "action" scenes in the 1934-36 Diamond Stars set... Here are a few....

No Gary, it is not real.
Super photoshop job by one of our members. Shammus, was it you? It is a Pacific Coast Biscuit D311 front with a 1911 Obak back. Even though, one of my favorite scans. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
