Default Vintage scorebooks from the Lena Pontier estate- SOLD

Happy holidays to everyone on net54!

Giants superfan Lena Pontier became one of the very first season ticket holders when the Giants transplanted from NY to San Francisco in 1958. She typically attended between 60-75 Giants games at Candlestick Park every year starting in 1960.
Her season tickets were literally right on the field- Section 1, Box Seat 1C, Seats 3 and 4. She had the opportunity to witness some terrific moments in SF Giants History which she chronicled in her scorebooks. The seats next to her were typically occupied by ML baseball scouts, dignitaries etc. As such, she frequently had the opportunity to talk with some of them and occasionally get their autographs.

In short, Lena was a terrific baseball fan, who meticulously scored the games she attended in her trusty 8 1/2" x 13" Official Wilson baseball scorebook. She used two scorebooks per year, every year commencing in 1960 until she stopped attending games due to health reasons in 1989. Looking through these pages is amazing as she used her scorebook as a dairy of sorts in addition to scoring the games thoroughly.

Offered here are three of Lena's scorebooks:
1) Scorebook #1- April 1973- July 1973 ($85)-
This scorebook contains several important games in baseball history:[/LIST]5/29/73 HOF NY Mets Tom Seaver strikes out 16 Giants is his 2nd best K game and one of his Top Career Pitching Performances6/19/73 Cincinnati Reds Pete Rose gets his 2000th career hit7/15/73 HOF Giants Willie McCovey hits his 400th career HR7/15/73 HOF Giants great Juan Marichal gets his 234th win and final career shutout (52nd career shutout)This book contains Billie Jean King's autograph that Lena got on 7/26/73. She describes her conversation with King which occured right before the famous BJ King- Bobby Riggs "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match in 1973.

2) Scorebook # 2-August 3, 1973-September 9, 1973 and April 8, 1974-June 30th + several games in August and September 1974 ($50)
Willie Mays's final hit at Candlestick Park and final game in SF (August 11th-12th, 1973)1974 All Star Game completely scoredThis scorebook also has games 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 from the 1973 World Series completely scored hat pitted the Oakland A's vs. the NY Mets marking the Say Hey Kid's last hurrah.
Several autographs appear in this scorebook. Joe Nuxhall, Scouts Don Lee, Steve Ontiveros (?), Dick Naper, Lloyd Christopher, Puddy Cottrell, Al Cuccinello are a few that I see.Warren Spahn HOF newpaper article is glued into 1st page. As noted in many of her scorebooks, Spahnnie was one of Lena's all time favorites.

3) Scorebook # 3 September 10, 1972-October 4, 1972 ($35)
Scorebook also has all 5 games scored from the 1972 AL and NL playoffs (A's-Tigers and Pirates -Reds)Reds- A's 1972 World Series (all 7 games scored)

Thanks for your interest! These will truly make some lucky collectors day.
Please note that all prices include shipping. As a bonus, if you buy more than one scorebook I will give you a 10% discount.
