Default SOLD: 1909 Pittsnurgh Press Newspaper Premium w/Wagner, Clarke, Dreyfuss, Willis

Good Afternoon, Collectors:

Up for sale today is a rather unusually patriotic design for a baseball display produced during a non-war-era period. With the bald eagle and the Stars and Stripes, this high-quality Pittsburg Press premium has the feel of a presidential election campaign sign. In 1909, Honus Wagner probably could've beaten out William Howard Taft in a popularity contest, anyway! The Flying Dutchman is presented here in that most classic of all baseball head-shots: the Carl Horner portrait from the T206 set. In fact, all 23 images originate from the legendary lens of Horner, whose copyright mark is located in the lower-right corner. From left to right, top to bottom, they are Barney Dreyfuss, Fred Clarke, Locke, Leach, Miller, Byrne, Gibson, Vic Willis, Camnitz, Adams, Lefield, Leever, Maddox, Phillippe, Brandom, Frock, O'Connor, Simon, Abstein, Abbaticchio, Wilson and Hyatt. Surrounding flourishes, ball-and-bat symbolism and a nice Pittsburgh emblem further enhance the lively All-American graphics. Please review scan of the supplement as the approximate dimensions are 13" x 20-1/2" and please note that the back is blank and there is some creasing along with some relatively minor tears along the edges. Sale price on this beauty is $SOLD dlvd. and the first person to e-mail me and state "I'll take it" is the new owner. My e-mail address is: vguerrerobb@yahoo.com

I usually don't see too much that makes me really take notice after 2 decades of this. But......that is the bomb!! Very nice! And nice and big as well.

Dang...great piece. On the plus side, I probably wasn't going to be able to afford it anyway.

Nice pick up

Richard.
