Hi all,
Just an FYI to let you all know that a new section has been launched on www.VintageBall.com devoted to the World Tours and Tours of Japan from 1888 to 1934, with a sub-section on each. The sections are illustrated with photos, postcards and other memorabilia from the tours, and include such players as Cap Anson, Ty Cobb, Jim Thorpe, Casey Stengel, Lou Gehrig, etc., etc., who participated in the tours. Lots of postcards and photos -- particularly for the 1920 and 1922 Tours. ![]() There are also full lists of players and rosters for each of the tours, some appearing for what I think is the first time. A few pieces come from player estates -- including pieces from George Kelly and George Moriarty. Robert S |

Hi Robert,
Hope you are doing well. By chance, I am currently reading "Spalding's World Tour" by Mark Lamster. Interesting and well researched book. Regards, Barry |

Thanks for the kind words everybody!
Barry -- that's a good book. Another good one is The Tour to End All Tours (http://www.lettersource.com/tour/index.html). Robert S |

Robert - nice additions to your site.
I noticed in your 1908 section the photo, below center, that you thought was likely Jake Stahl. When compared to Stahl on the left, we can see that the noses/nostrils are markedly different and that the ear shapes don't match. I think we can be sure that he is not Stahl. He does match Hugh Bradley, depicted in a photo taken by Paul Thompson, below right. |

When I launched that page a while back, I noted on the site that BOTH names were marked on the photo -- Stahl and Bradley -- and provided links to images of BOTH players.
I assume that's what drove you to Bradley, correct? I agree with you... However, I haven't updated the page since I provided both possible identifications. I will get around to this at some point, eliminating mention of Stahl. I actually haven't updated the photo section since I launched it and have many changes to make there -- from adding many, many better photos to including input from player families identifying images and changing some IDs. Thanks, Robert |

Anything interesting on Bradley that I should add to the site other than that he hit the first homerun in Fenway?
Let me know, Mark -- as any unique tidbits make for nice additions in the text! Thanks again, Robert |
