Well I guess it pays to be a little lucky at tonights Yankee game a good friend of my oldest son who he played some college ball with caught Jeters 250th HR ball. (Pat) did end up giving the ball to Jeter and Derek did give him some nice items! Great Job Pat!!!

Thanks Guys one of the nicest kids you will ever meet! I will have to find out tomorrow what else he gave him. As you can see a nice autographed bat for one!

Nice! i wonder if that's his game used bat from the HR? (that would be awesome). either way, very cool of the kid, and very cool of Jeter to reciprocate. would love to hear what else he got. thanks for sharing.

Jeter would not give his game used bat from the hr. I'm guessing it's just a game issued bat.

Well on a little follow up Derek was very nice to my sons friend Pat. He did give him a game used bat signed (not the one he hit 250 with) A uniform top, signed baseballs and tickets to more yankee games! All in all a great night for Pat and he is thrilled beyond belief! He said Derek was one of the nicest guys to talk to and was happy that Pat gave up the ball to him!

Wow, well that sounds like a great trade-off then (especially if the jersey is game worn). i think maybe Jeter is thinking this HR (250) might be his last major HR milestone (might be a stretch for him to get to 300 considering how few HR's he hits), and that it really meant a lot for him to get that ball back, hence the good amount of stuff he gave your son's friend for it.

Jeter's next hit ties him with Nap Lajoie...that's pretty lofty company, and he still has plenty left in the tank. Not only is he leading the majors in hits, but if I'm not mistaken he's also leading in at bats. That's inconceivable for a 38 year old!
