Default Interesting baseball busts - need your help!

Hi Guys!

We (Inside the Park Collectibles) just picked up a consignment of baseball player bust statues that originally came from the estate of Eddie Stanky. The players are Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Ralph Kiner, Alvin Dark, Vern Stephens and Eddie Stanky(see pictures below). They range in size from 6" tall (Ruth) to 5" tall for all of the rest. They are all marked Pettito Studio on the verso side. They appear to be a paper-mache composition.

I'm speculating that the smaller busts may have been prototypes for candy containers. Petito did make a Jackie Robinson and Ted Williams plastic containers in the early 50's(see last Williams below). We also know that there was a bust of Vern Stephens issued in the 50's. If any of you have any information about these busts, please let me know.

We will be featuring these busts in our August 2012 auction. We also have an auction ending tomorrow night (Friday June 29). Please visit our web site at: www.insidetheparkcollectibles.com

Thanks!
Lou
