Default The Most Beautiful Card Ever

Make your choice here, and if you want to nominate one you own and add a photo, go right ahead. We are NOT talking value or rarity or your "favorite" but simply the most beautiful, however you want to define it. Make a pick even if you don't have the card yourself.

Great picks so far, folks, keep going. I was hoping someone would mention the colors in the Waddell. Of course the Anson and Kelly mentioned early on have to rank very high. That Grove Goudey '33 is indeed great but a lot of competition from that issue, including the wonderfully cartoonist Hack Wilson. You could argue t206s all night--is that Cobb really more beautiful than, say, the Johnny Evers portrait (and so on)? Among the t205s one of the coolest obscure cards has to be the Batch minor leaguer. What about the M116 blue Matty (or blue Lajoie)? Shall we talk Obaks? And on and on.

To me, any of the color (non-underwear looking) Boston Garters.
I think that they are 1914s.

I am partial to the colors of the 1933 Goudey Chuck Klein. I don't own one yet but hope to add it to my collection soon. The scan is from one that Probstien has that has already passed my budget.

T3 Ty Cobb.

(although the '14 Cracker Jack Mathewson has a lot going for it, too)

Neither are in my collection, so I'll politely request that those who might own such epic cards post their scans should they choose.

Interesting array of choices -- and many great images noted.

One I'd add in as a very high ranking favourite of mine is the 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig. I still have yet to add one to my collection, but I never get sick of looking at them, and am immediately jealous whenever I see one in a pick-up thread (nice addition Steve!). Not sure what it is about that card, but it just seems to look so awesome in every condition.

Regards,

Richard.

+1 for calvindog's T227 Cobb but I also have to agree with Jlighter with the T206 Johnson portrait (striking image) and the
1921 Exhibit Ruth; its just a timeless photo of the,at the time, new Yankee. Would definitley love to have that T227 Cobb!

Default E beautiful

The horizontal Matty (like TheBig6 posted) have always been near the top of my list. I love the composition of the card. A cool thought...what if they had done a full image of this pose (imagine seeing his entire pitching pose in T3 size).

The most beautiful card IMHO is the 1934 Goudey Gehrig (Portrait). When I started making good money, that was the first card I had to own and although not in pristine condition, I bought a PSA 5. It is now in my safe deposit box.

You guys beat me to it! I was going to post my E102 horizontal Matty.
If I had to pick a second most beautiful card, I would probably go with one of the 1909 Obak cards, so many beautiful ones in that set. If you have a 1909 Obak in high grade, you have a beauty

For T206, agree with the previsously mentioned Cobb bat off, as well as Mathewson dark cap.

Also love T202 Ty Cobb Steals Third for it's colors, portraits and that iconic shot.

I have always thought that the T3's of Brooklyn players looked awesome with the light blue uniforms and the orange horizon in the background. However I am a sucker for cards with a horizon in the background.
