Most of these cards that do hit the market have the punch holes when they were redeemed for the ice cream. This is a complete card.
"Honey Boys" are rarely offered, but are well known by advanced collectors both for their rarity and memorable product name, as well as for being one of the very few card sets issued during the late 1920s. This 21-card set was issued by The Purity Ice Cream Co. of Winnipeg, Canada, in 1927, to promote the company's Honey Boy Ice Cream product. The set features mostly Major Leaguers but also includes a few Canadian League players, among them "Snake" Siddle of the Arenas club, whose card is included in this lot. Honey Boys measure 1-5/8 x 2-3/8 inches. They are considerably rarer than almost all of the few card issues dating from the 1920s. The front pictures a square black-and-white portrait with just the player's name printed below. The reverse of each card features advertising for the Purity Ice Cream Co. and the company offers a brick of "Delicious Honey Boy Ice Cream" for a full set of twenty-one cards.
