I am wondering these days, how many of you are out there and how are everyone's collections progressing?
I started my efforts as strictly a BB HOF RC guy eight years ago and have since kept the same general concept but have branched out to include team photos, postcards, premiums, supplements, etc. |

I did HOF rookie cards post war era (main sets only) a finished the whole thing within months. I think the whole project took about 6 months or so. The cards were rather inexpensive in lower grade and very easy to find. The only card I could not get was the Leaf Satchel Paige.

Very nice, Rob.
Anyone out there doing pre-war these days? |

I still tinker with it, but I have lost some energy. I found myself acquiring to many dups over the years. I have sold off a few dups, sold most of the modern and got going on a side project that has nothing to do with rookie cards. Life is distracting me too.

That's how i started.Boy how i've gotten sidetracked!Rookie,First Card,What does it all mean?Along the way i've read some great books and learned some interesting stories about the players and the game.I love most cards but mainly vintage. You can collect the cards and learn some history, what could be better?

Still a very dedicated (and patient) HOF collector. But not rookies, unless affordable. Simply contemporary with their active career is good enough for me. And I am fairly broad with my "card" definition, e.g. postcards, premiums, supplements, etc. Still need a handful of Negro Leaguers.

Your Alexander Cartwright cabinet card is one of my all-time favorite cards in the hobby. |

Hey Phil, I am doing all signed HOF autographed rookies cards, I know, an impossible but fun task. Have over 100 different HOF'ers and mainly focusing on pre-war right now. Picked up a signed T206 Marquard about a month ago.

Phil -
You know I'm a hof "rookie" collector (whatever that means) as well. I've focused on trying to pick up some of the more difficult cards to start and will eventually pick up the "easy" ones later... If you recall, my new year's resolution was to buy anything you were selling on the BST this year! With the few you are sending me (plus ones I picked up from Dan P. - thanks Dan), I should be at about 48% complete...not yet reflected on my "website". I think if I added the "easy" ones - - you know, the one's you can grab off ebay at any time - - I could get to 60-65% pretty quickly. The last 35% will be a b*tch, if not impossible. But, as you and I discussed recently, IT'S NOT ABOUT COMPLETING THIS SET, IT'S ABOUT THE JOURNEY! There are so many cool items out there and the research and discovery is awesome. And as you know, your research has been VERY useful in at least knowing what items exist out there. I now know what to plug into google / ebay / auction house search functions! Thanks again for all the great research and documentation for all to enjoy!

I know that there must be more than 8 BB HOF Rookie Card collectors out there these days. Anyone else want to share their experiences?
