I will be heading down to New Orleans next week and I was wondering if anyone knows of places to visit, especially sports memorabilia shops or antique shops...
Thanks Travis |

Travis,
Go to Bourbon street (I'm sure you've already got it in your plans), you may not find a baseball card shop or antique shop but you'll find a whole lot of other fun things. Just don't stray too many blocks from Canal street (unless you don't mind the company of the he/she crowd). Enjoy, that's a fun place!

My wife's from there so I get down there a couple times a year.
There's a great antique mall on Magazine street. Neat area as well to poke around. In my experience, there are a bunch of antique shops etc. with some neat items but no card shops to speak of. I think you'll do better finding ancillary items like advertising and packaging, maybe a photo or some memorabilia rather than cards specifically. Watch out for repro Piedmont signs, etc. which I also see a bunch of when I go there. Last time I was poking around in a shop and found a 1909 LSU yearbook. The guy wanted $200 for it but was a nice piece with a leather cover in good shape. Stuff like that. Good luck and let us know if you turn up anything. |
