Here's another estate find. This was found in an extensive coin collection we picked up today from a local Estate. The Babe was a frequent visitor to these parts and is well represented in a few of the local watering holes.
Thoughts and your input is greatly appreciated-trying to figure if its worth authenticating for resale for the estate? Thanks.... ps. The Bill is a Series 1935A silver cert. Last edited by oriolesbb6; 11-16-2011 at 10:35 AM. Reason: add detail |

I don't anything about autographs, but I'm curious as to how it was sold? Did you just happen upon it or did the auction house sell it as an authentic Ruth signature?

Hi, this item has not been sold and was happened upon in a binder of paper currency. The estate had no knowledge of the piece. There were no other sports collectibles included in the estate.

Good way to catch somebody trying to get away with something. I saw a John Dillenger signed money here in Indiana. (he's from here) but this one seller was selling a bunch of bills signed by him... and they were dated 5-10 years after John had died. When i pointed that out, he was very upset....AT ME! He had a song and dance about the money and how he signed it... (during a bank robbery John would rip a dollar in half and sign it for people in the bank) While the story might be true, how could he sigh a bank note printed 5 years after he was shot and killed? I went back a few months later, and the seller only had the side of the bills that had no dates on them.... some people will do anything for a buck. He was selling them for 1200.00 ea Last edited by Ringking; 11-19-2011 at 02:34 PM. |
